Helen Brackenbury is the Interim Deputy Chief Executive and DCS at Cheshire West and Chester council. Helen joined Local Government in 1996, working for Hertfordshire County Council and moved to Cheshire in 2000 working within the family support service. In 2002 she took up the role of a Deputy Programme manager for a Local Sure Start programme and moved from this to a Children Centre manager in 2005 leading a large phase one centre and building a 60 strong multi agency team.
In 2013 Helen took the opportunity to take a senior managers post leading the development of the new Integrated Early Support service which was created as part of the Altogether Better community budget programme. She became a Director for the Local Authority in 2014 still in Childrens services. In January 2017 she added Peoples Commissioning to her portfolio. In 2022, she took up the statutory role of DCS.
