The Leadership Academy – New models for school effectiveness: achieving excellence and equity

International comparisons remind us that in successful systems a mediating or “middle” tier between the centre and schools is essential to:

  • Implement reform
  • Co-ordinate practice
  • Facilitate collaboration

The step away from forced academisation by central government provides a space within which to take stock and consider the strategic decisions needed to create a single, dynamic education system of academies and maintained schools.

This thematic seminar will explore the challenges and opportunities for local authorities to help shape a new model for this middle tier.
